In present-day London sixteen year old Taylor Oh is cursed: when murdered ghosts die, they paint her with a black mark which she can only get rid of by transferring to another person: the murderer. This causes her problems at school, with her father (who thinks she’s sick), and with her few friends. An intriguing story of love (after death) and the revenge politics, but the book isn’t without its problems: racial hatred (from nasty characters) and several odd word choices that jar the reader. Perhaps it’s middle-class privilege or the way Taylor describes herself, but something wasn’t quite right.
