Glen Mehn
Welcome to my personal home page, where I blather on about myself rather a lot.

This whole thing started when I was doing IT consulting in '99 in San Francisco and the last 4 letter domain names were being bought up. My unusual last name suggested that I might actually have a shot at mehn.com. Some poor sucker's been paying $15 or so a year for it for eleven years now. "As an investment". To him I say: Good luck with that. Unless someone tries to start up Multi Ethnic Hair and Nails.com you're wasting your money. But I will take it off of your hand for my family.

I do a lot of stuff, for work and for my personal life.

I volunteer and/or work for:

- Burning Man - on the technical team as a UNIX systems admin
- London Decompression - heading up the Ops team for this group
- Appfrica - Advisor/board member
- BidNetwork - mentoring developing world entrepreneurs

Open Source:

Debian (since '98) and Ubuntu (since '05) Linux (Slackware since 1993)
Wrangling Drupal into applications and websites
Helping companies and individuals make the most of open source software
Complex nagios infrastructure
Making SVN work for fun and profit
Mostly being happy with but often moaning about OpenOffice

Schools:

University of Oxford - ye olde stone piles of dreaming spires

Pembroke College - The passion of pinkness
Dell'Arte International School of Physical Theatre - Madness in dreary weather
University of New Orleans - New Orleans' state-iest...
Benjamin Franklin High School - New Orleans' finest
Lusher School - Elementary

Other:

Yoga
Cycling - a mode of transport
Cycling - a project to report close calls with HGVs
Backpacking (the mountains type, not the Eurail type)
Drink wine, beer, tea, eat out and cook

Music and politics:

Too Much Joy - the best band you've never heard of
Warren Zevon -  Enjoy every sandwich
Titus Andronicus - Yowza, I didn't think they made them like this anymore
Irma Thomas - Informing me of what love's got to do with it for as long as I can remember
Charlie Brooker - Telling it like it is
Chris Morris - "Satirist" here is the very definition of litote
