I respect Cory Doctorow.. He writes stories which teach, and are fun, about things which are important, but thinks that most people don’t understand and think are complicated. Information security. The security state. The appropriate role of government. Civil liberties. The stories are compelling. Readable. Written for a wide range of audiences, focussed on young people as liberators and defenders of freedom. Showing young people respect in those roles. Expecting that these young people will make the world we’ve screwed up better. I wonder, however, if I were a young person, if I wouldn’t feel a little talked down to.
